i think one reason why i like this biography is that I have a cousin who's diagnosed to be mildly autistic. While reading this biography, I kept wondering whether my cousin is really autistic, or is he just like Whitney? A boy who was trapped by his inability to communicate? I used to see him every week when my Aunt came to visit my grandma. After my grandma's death, I only get to see him in special occasions eg. Chinese New Year, wedding banquets, death anniversaries of my ancestors. He's really adorable, and he always put on this smile that is so innocent and charming that it makes you smile too. We should focus on his abilities and not his disabilities, as Dr. Florance had said, though I can't be sure whether he is really autistic or was he just unable to communicate.
"Florance describes in touching detail the agonizing journey taken by her family to help Whitney escape a bleak future" SUNDAY EXPRESS
"One cannot but admire Cheri Florance's love, courage and steadfastne ss in the face of adversity"TLS
